Streamline the Challenged Children into the Mainstream.
Shakti Learning Centre was raised on 21 Dec 2009. It is a family endeavor. The raising day/founders day of SLARC is the date of birth of a Down Syndrome child of the family. On his birth, the mother took a resolve to bring him up like a normal child, and the whole family got behind this Aim of the mother. Today this child has accomplished a lot. He has cleared his Xth and XIIth, through NIOS CBSE. He has cleared his BA and MA [Psychology] Ist year through IGNOU University and has taken admission in IInd year MA.
He is a dancing wizard, excels in Painting and Sketching, gives stage performances, drives two wheeler s, cycles to tuition classes, operates computers, likes typing and teaches children in the Centre. His progress has been a tremendous source of encouragement for the family to start this enterprise with the sole aim of educating such children in society.
Today we have more than 100 children with various learning disorders and school dropouts, from all over the country and even abroad. Remediation and Education techniques have been specially designed to address these learning disorders and take these children ahead in that field of activity, which is their strength, and put them through the education process.
A number of such children have taken subjects such as Economics, Business Studies, Home Science, English, Hindi, Word Processing and Painting for their Xth and XIIth board exams from National Institute of Open Schooling (CBSE). Some have already cleared while others are in the process of doing so. In all these endeavors we keep the mothers as involved as their wards. We try and teach the mothers what their ward is learning so that she can be an effective tutor at home for her child.
SLARC is also a Research Institute where Remediation and Education techniques are researched and evolved with the focus on “Streamlining the Challenged child into the Main Stream of Life”.
